1.  HOW TO ENTER/PLAY:  This contest begins at 6:00 am EST on Monday, May 6, 2013 and ends at 6:00 pm EST on Friday, May 31, 2013.  To play listen to 92.7 KISS FM, (“Sponsor”) for the “What’s The Hook” cue to call.  When prompted, the ninth caller will have a chance to qualify for the grand prize by singing the hooks of the three songs presented on air.  All clips will be posted daily to the 92.7 KISS FM website at www.92.7kissfm.com.  On Friday, of each week, one (1) randomly selected qualifier will be chosen to compete in the “What’s the HOOK LIVE” contest. What’s the HOOK LIVE” will be held at a local McDonald’s on Saturday, June 1^st, 2013.  The four (4) selected contestants will compete against each other. Competition points are awarded for correctly answering questions about the artists performing at the Essence Music Festival.

The “What’s the HOOK” Live contestants will be shown six categories, each with five even point value of 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000.  The clue is then read aloud to the contestants.  Once the clue is finished being read, the contestants can try to answer.

A contestant wishing to answer any questions must activate the signaling device.  Since more than one contestant may think they have signaled the device, contestants may not answer until acknowledge by the moderator.  After being acknowledged by the moderator, the contestant must immediately begin an answer.  If the contestant who buzzes in fails to give the correct answer within fifteen (15) seconds then the question will be reread once and another contestant has the chance to buzz in.  If no one buzzes in within 5 seconds, the moderator will move on to the next question.

If the answer is correct, the value amount with that clue is added to the contestant’s score.  A wrong answer will subtract the value amount from the contestant’s score.

If a contestant answers without signaling, or waiting to be recognized by the moderator, the answer will be declared invalid and the point value of the question will be deducted.  The question will then be offered to the opposing individuals.

If a contestant signals and is recognized, but fails to start an answer immediately, the contestant will lose points and the question will be offered to the opposing individuals.  The amount of points deducted will be determined by the point value of the question.

If no contestant can offer an answer to the question within 5 seconds, the question will be dropped and no contestant will forfeit points.

If the answer is incorrect or incomplete, the question shall then be reread and the other contestants will have one more opportunity to answer.  The judge may not ask the contestant to explain his or her answer.

Pronunciation – judges must recognize answers given as mispronunciation.  The error in pronunciation can affect the correctness of an answer.

Correcting Answers – if a contestant gives a complete answer, he or she cannot make a correction.  If a partial incorrect answer is given and the contestant makes the correction mid-answer or word, the corrected answer will not be accepted.

In case of a tie, a sudden death tiebreaker question(s) will be asked of the contestants will be asked of the two contestants.

There will be one (1) hidden clue labeled “THIS HOOK FOR DOUBLE”.  If a contestant chooses the ‘THIS HOOK FOR DOUBLE.” clue, only that contestant is given the opportunity to answer and he/she can risk any or all of his/her points.  If a contestant(s) has a negative score at the end of the round, he/she is eliminated from the game.  In the final round, any/all remaining contestants are given a final subject and clue, the contestants will make their bids.  The contestants have 30 seconds to answer the final clue. After all the bids are added/subtracted, the player(s) with the most points wins the trip to the 2013 Essence Festival in New Orleans, LA. You must be present to win. McDonald’s USA, LLC is not responsible for administering this Promotion or selecting the winners.

2. JUDGING:  The moderator assumes complete discretion of all questions, asks all questions, designates contestants to answer question, accepts and rejects all answers, unless overruled by judge(s).  He/she may seek interpretation of questions and answers from judges.  The Moderator designates the winner of each contest and shall at all times remain in charge; having the final voice in all decisions, except for answers to questions, which are ruled on unanimously by judges.  Two judges will be utilized during the competition.  The judges will be knowledgeable in the subject matter.  The judge may rule individually or jointly in the acceptability of any answer.  Either both judges, or one judge and the moderator, must agree on the acceptability or rejection of a question and or answer. One individual will keep score on each contestant.  Scores will be visible to the contestants at all times during the competition.

3.  ELIGIBILITY:  Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 21 years or older at the time of entry.  (“Entrant(s):).  Void where prohibited by law.  Employees of Sponsors, McDonald’s USA, LLC and promotional partners and their respective parent companies, relatives, franchisees affiliates and subsidiaries, participating advertising and promotion agencies (and members of their immediate family and/or those living in the same household of each such employee) are not eligible.

4.  PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE:  The four (4) finalist will receive a McDonald’s prize pack value of $2150.00. The Grand Prize winner will receive a trip to the 2013 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, LA, to include:  Tickets to the festival for him/her and a guest, guest must be at least 21 years of age, round trip airfare for him/her and a guest from RIC, (Richmond International Airport), one room per night double occupancy hotel accommodations and a $300 VISA gift card for the winner only.  Grand prize value $2150.00. All other expenses not specified herein are the responsibility of the Winner.  ALL TAXES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.  The prize is awarded without warranty, express or implied, of any kind.  Limit one prize per person per household.

5. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: No transfer, assignment, or substitution of a prize permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize (or prize component) for an item of equal or greater value at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Nothing in these official contest rules shall obligate Sponsor to publish or otherwise use any entry submitted in connection with this Contest. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Contest. By entering, Entrant represents that any photos and other materials submitted as part of Entrant’s Contest entry are original and will not constitute defamation or an invasion of privacy or otherwise infringe upon the rights of any third party, and that the Entrant owns or has the rights to convey any and all right and title in such photos and other materials. In addition, by entering, Entrant grants to Sponsor a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to edit, publish, promote, republish at any time in the future and otherwise use Entrant’s submitted photos, along with Entrant’s name, likeness, biographical information, and any other information provided by Entrant, in any and all media for possible editorial, promotional or advertising purposes, without further permission, notice or compensation (except where prohibited by law). Potential Winner, and parent or legal guardian where the Potential Winner has not reached the age of majority in their state of residence at time of entry, as a condition of receiving any prize, also may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release and where legally permissible a Publicity Release and confirmation of a license as set forth above within 7 days following the date of first attempted notification, certifying, among other things, the following: (a) entry does not defame or invade the privacy of any party and (b) entry does not infringe upon the rights of any third party. 6. ADDITIONAL CONTEST REQUIREMENTS: Sponsor in its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify contestants at any time from the Contest and to award any prize to other contestants, in the event that contestants: refuse any aspect of any prize offered; fail to complete and return by a deadline specified by 92.7 KISS FM or Prize Suppliers any paperwork, releases of liability and publicity rights, and eligibility affidavits required by 92.7 KISS FM or Prize Suppliers; refuse to participate or fail to appear in any Contest event or promotion; become involved in any situation or occurrence that 92.7 KISS FM deems likely to subject 92.7 KISS FM , Prize Suppliers, any contestant or any winner to ridicule, scandal or contempt; or commit any acts or alleged acts of misconduct. Acts or alleged acts of misconduct include but are not limited to: acts of dishonesty, theft, moral turpitude; threatening, injuring, abusing, or endangering others; abusing alcohol or illegal drugs; or acts that would constitute criminal conduct under state or federal law; or any acts in violation of Paragraph Seven (7) below. If information about disqualifying events specified in this paragraph is discovered by 92.7 KISS FM after a winner has received notice of his/her prize and before the prize is awarded, Essence may rescind the prize in its entirety from the winner. Talk of the Town Facebook Conversation:  Seems as though the CRHA is having a knee jerk reaction to a review they received by the Department of Housing & Urban Development.  They have now proposed some extreme changes to their current policies.  Some of the changes proposed:

1. Eviction of a tenant who is late paying their rent 4 times in a calendar year.
2. Increasing fees for pet owners
3. Increasing late fees

The big question is what happens to the residents if they enforce this policy?  What happens to the children and how will this impact families overall?  Do you think they CRHA is being heartless towards community residents?  Is there a better solution such as financial literacy programs for the tenants, and job training  so that the tenants can better themselves rather than kicking them when they are down.  What are your thoughts…weigh in on facebook.

Coffee Talk:  The journey to bridal bliss is getting bumpy.  Rumors are swirling that NeNe is demanding that Greg sign a prenup or she says there will be no 2^nd time around!  She’s RICH!!  J & plans to stay that way!  Now, she has boasted about how much she loves and adores Greg and she has stated on numerous occasions that Greg provided for her and her son financially before she became a Celebrity!  What do you think – Is a prenup necessary?

• Lauryn Hill’s New Jersey tax evasion sentencing has been postponed until May 6, reports TMZ. It was moved to give Hill a chance to pay a portion of her $968,000 tax debt. According to Hill’s attorney, she signed a million-dollar record deal with Sony and will take out a $650,000 loan to use toward her mounting tax debt. Hill pled guilty to tax evasion in June 2012 and faces several years in prison. [TMZ]

• Pop star Rihanna has broken another record. Her latest single, “Stay,” earned the singer her 10th number one song on Billboard’s pop songs radio chart. She’s the first artist to do so in the chart’s 20-year history. Yesterday, the Bajan singer snagged 10 Billboard Music Award nominations. [Billboard]

• Legendary folk singer Richie Havens died of a heart attack yesterday at his New Jersey home. He was 72. Havens earned his fame by being the first person to ever perform at Woodstock in 1969. He would make several more grand appearances in his career including playing at President Bill Clinton’s 1993 inauguration. [Washington Post]

• Tonight, Alicia Keys will release her long awaited video for her third single, “Fire We Make,” featuring ESSENCE Festival artist Maxwell. Ahead of its premiere, the star released a teaser to get your temperature rising.
